|
| - What is K20? |
|
Close Window |
|
Answer:
The award-winning K-20 network, the first of its kind in the nation, represents a collaboration
of public and private K-12 and higher education, state government, the Legislature, and the
private sector. The high-speed, high-bandwidth network spans the state. The cables, lines,
switches and other hardware that comprise the network are essentially invisible to users and the
public. However, the Internet, interactive video, and satellite-delivered program services the
network provide are readily visible.

|
| - How does KORRS work? |
|
Close Window |
|
Answer:
KORRS has three major functional areas. The first area is information about each K20 organization
and their associated ITV resources. This area is divided by sector, and within each
sector: either geographically or alphabetically. This information is maintained by each organization,
or their designee, and requires an assigned scheduler ID to update.
The second area is accessible via web browsers to anyone, and is used for requesting an ITV event. The third area is reserved for authorized resource schedulers with an SID only. This area is where the organization and resource information is updated, events either confirmed or declined, or where resource schedulers submit a reservation request. |

|
| - What is the MCU ID used for? |
|
Close Window |
|
Answer:
The MCU ID should be referred to when calling your designated support organization or KOCO, the
K20 MCU support organization, if there is difficulty in making the initial connection for a
multi-site event. If you request an event with more than three sites and an MCU ID is assigned,
a new MCU ID and different ISDN numbers will be assigned if you add additional sites after
the initial request.

|
|
| - What happens after an online reservation request is completed and the submit button is pressed? |
|
Close Window |
|
Answer:
When the event request submit button is pressed, an event record is created. On this record
is the event ID number, event PIN, and all of the details of the reservation request. You should
remember the PIN because it is required to make future changes to the event or cancel it if necessary.
Contact the KORRS system administrator at KORRS@sbctc.ctc.edu
if the event PIN is lost.
The status of each site in the request is set to pending. An email is automatically sent to each site scheduler informing them of the reservation request. The site scheduler will review the details of the request and either "CONFIRM" or "DECLINE" the event for the sites that they have authority to schedule. The requestor must review the reservation status periodically until all sites have responded. If there are more than two sites in a request a email is sent to the MCU scheduler. The MCU scheduler confirms the event by assigning an event ISDN to each site. |

|
|
| - Will I receive a confirmation email from each site after the request is submitted? |
|
Close Window |
|
Answer:
No. The details of this event
request are emailed automatically to the site schedulers,
and the MCU scheduler if it is more than a two-site event.
It is the requestor's responsibility to check the status of
the event request via the "Status" in Reservations. A "link
favorite" may be saved to the event status screen in
order to easily check the status of this or other requests.
The event contact email address will get a notification only
if a site DECLINES an event.

|
|
| - How do I request an event that includes a site that is outside of the K20 Network? |
|
Close Window |
|
Answer:
This event includes a site or sites that are referred to as "off net". The K20 reservation
system will not have any specific resource or scheduling information for these sites, but you
will need to include them in the request order to acquire an MCU assignment. When making your
site selection from the available resource list on the "Online Event Request" screen, off net
sites are identified as "Off Net Non-Specified". These sites will have to be confirmed individually
by the requestor since the resource is considered a placeholder only. Any authorized K20
ITV scheduler can confirm these sites once they have made the arrangements.
